Program Description

The woodfire class at Pottery West will address all aspects of the wood firing process. Discussions of clay bodies, slips, glazes, wood types, and firing techniques will be heavily emphasized. The class will be structured for the first hour, which will include presentations, lectures, and movies. The rest of the class period is the students opportunity to make work for the wood kilns. We will fire the train kiln and wood soda kiln. The student will need to spend time outside of class to make work. This class is designed for the serious, dedicated, and advanced ceramic student.
