Program Description
Jackson Hole Mountain Guides conducts its ice climbing classes near Lake Louise, outside the town of Dubois on the east side of the Wind River Mountains. While one-day classes are regularly done, two days with a night spent in Dubois works best. We also have ice climbing instruction available through our Cody branch, in the Beartooth Mountains outside of Red Lodge, MT. You can expect to learn about movement on ice, using ice tools, belays, and ice protection, as well as to spend lots of time climbing on ice. You should come prepared for a day out in the Wyoming winter. JHMG provides harnesses, helmets, belay devices, ice axes, crampons, ropes and anchors. You may bring your own climbing gear if you wish. You will need to bring clothing suitable for a day spent outdoors on wet snow. Please refer to our equipment list for an outline of what to bring. In addition, you will need to bring a liter or two of water and lunch. Look over our Winter Trip Planner page for information on logistics. Prices are per person in a group of two or more unless noted otherwise. The price of instruction does not include transportation, meals or accommodations. Private rates and custom trips are also available
